It’s a Bit Too Nippy!

No, I’m not talking about the weather – although I could be. Instead, poor Llama is being a bit too nippy. We recognize that he is teething but he is really chomping on poor Mindy (not so much me). We recognize that Mindy is out all day and that Llama is excited to see her but this is taking away from Mindy’s enjoyment of Llama (don’t get me wrong she loves him, but it hurts!!!
).
Please send any thoughts?
Help! Barking All Night?

The barking lasted quite some time and Mindy and I caved. We each, individually, had to go see him. Two hours later, Llama started barking again. After we realized that he was not going to stop, I went down to see what was up. He dutifully pooped on the pad. I praised him, gave a treat, and gave him a little time to pee. Seeing that he did not need to do anything, I put him back in the crate where he relentlessly barked/whimpered for quite some time. I went back down after a while and let him out of the crate and allowed him to roam (with blocked off doors) in the kitchen (which is his area). Although, he continued to bark for some time, we eventually all went back to sleep.
Mindy and I realize that he might be scared and/or miss us, but this can’t go on much longer if we are to keep our sanity. Suggestions anyone? Please.

Thank you all for your support as Mindy and I had to weather through several attempts to get him. He is a happy, healthy puppy and we are all excited to have him home.
Thank you all for your kind words (special kodus to those at the DC solosez luncheon last Friday) and e-mails!
As you can imagine, we are also very tired. Will write more soon and now that the trial of getting him here is completed, we can get the conversations focused on the blog.
Best,
Mike
I’m never going to get my puppy…

I can accept that my flight was canceled last week due to the weather- even though it was disconcerting that they would not be proactive and let me rebook the flight the night before or even later right around the time it was supposed to take off. But later that day, I was able reschedule for Monday (round trip in one day like before). All this time, they knew what the purpose of the flight was - to pick up a puppy from a breeder and bring him home.
So, I get an e-mail late yesterday morning informing me that my flight has been canceled! I called JetBlue only to get a recording essentially telling me that they can't take my call due to high volume and was disconnected. A couple of hours later I received a call from them asking me what I want to do - change dates or a refund. I told them neither – they knew my purpose, that I had little time (and that I had to coordinate with the breeder), and that they can rebook me on a different airline and pay for the difference. They said that they can't do that - they don't have connections with other airlines. Needless to say, I got his supervisor with whom I later left a message.
Later I was called back. Not by the supervisor. But some poor soul who had been called out of bed early in the morning in order to help JetBlue with its issues. Thankfully, I had been able to contact the breeder and arrange for a new pick up date – this Saturday. JetBlue and I were able to make arrangements and all is set.
Really, this is all nuts! But as long as Llama and I make it back in one piece, safe and sound, I guess that is all that matters.
Glad I didn't go to Portland: Weather delays keep JetBlue passengers stuck on plane for 8 hours

I would have been sooo pissed - Read below from CNN.
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Passengers on a Cancun-bound JetBlue flight remained on the tarmac at John F. Kennedy International Airport for eight hours Wednesday after winter storms prevented the flight from leaving the ground, according to JetBlue Airways spokeswoman Jenny Dervin.
Flight 751, which was originally scheduled to depart New York at 8:15 a.m., remained on the tarmac until just after 4 p.m. before passengers were taken off the plane and transported back to the terminal by three New York Port Authority buses.
The flight was one of 10 JetBlue flights stuck on the ground at JFK due to inclement weather Wednesday, according to a JetBlue statement.
"Well, it's good to be free from there," Carolyn Faucher, a stranded passenger, told CNN. "Especially when the windows were iced over, you're kind of like in a sound-proofed coffin."
Faucher said that passengers aboard the flight endured a temporary loss of heat and the airline had no food for passengers, including at least two diabetic customers. Bathroom conditions had reportedly deteriorated as well.
Winter snow storms and occupied gates prevented the flight from leaving the ground, according to Dervin. This resulted in what JetBlue defined "unacceptable delays" for its customers.
"Usually in a weather situation like this, we are able to safely take off within a reasonable amount of time," Dervin told CNN, "but today's weather situation did not clear up enough."
JetBlue has apologized to the stranded passengers and Dervin said that all customers whose flights were held more than three hours would receive a full refund and round trip JetBlue ticket. (Posted 10:50 p.m.)
Thank you for your continued patience...

And if I have to listen to that one more time while waiting on hold with the airlines…I’m going to scream. Only about three hours on hold and a total of three phone calls later, was I able to find out that finally, the airline did cancel its flight out of Dulles (the website said that the flight was delayed and the airport was closed).
I first tried changing my flight last night when things were looking very bad. I had figured it was not a good thing to have a 10-week-old pup stuck in JFK airport. So I tried being proactive. No dice by the airline (see the last blog). I was told to call this morning at 5:15 AM. After waiting for 40 minutes on the phone this morning, I was put on hold while my very nice operator tried to find out from her supervisor what my options were – it was to call back, again – perhaps 8/8:30 AM.
I called later this morning, around 11 AM – I had fallen back to sleep till 10 AM. On hold again for a bit while worrying that my phone battery was about to die – forgot to cradle the phone after clicking off and falling a sleep. The operator was about to make the change but was worried that I may not be qualified for a free change and no increase in fare since I was not going to Florida? But she then realized that I would be qualified for the trip since I was going and coming in one day.
Whew! I need some sleep.
Wish me luck on Monday!

The weather has turned ugly and is looking bad for flying to Maine tomorrow. Mindy and I are quite concerned that Llama won’t be arriving tomorrow.
Has anyone gone to extremes to get their beloved (if flying to Maine from DC and back in a day is an extreme)? Please share your comments below as we wonder whether I'll make it out tomorrow.
Stay tuned to see if I make it out tomorrow!
